BKK held several world records when it opened in 2006, including boasting the world’s tallest free-standing ATC tower (434 feet); the world’s largest single-building airport terminal (563,000 square metres) and one of the world’s longest runways (4,000 metres) which, while not the absolute longest, was critical for handling fully-loaded Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8 aircraft on long-haul flgihts.
